Townsend Timeout Episode 12
with William Woods Softball Coach Tracy Gastineau

By: Veronica Townsend- June 13, 2020

Building relationships and leading her team to excel on and off the field is what Coach Tracy Gastineau does best at William Woods University. Gastineau is the associate athletics director and softball coach at WWU. In honor of World Softball Day, Coach Gastineau chatted with us, via phone interview, to recap how her team made the best of the shorten season, due to CO-VID 19. A unique aspect of the team is traveling to another warmer state to play their spring break. This year, the team played during their Spring Break in Gulf Shores, AL. Although the season was cut short, Coach Gastineau credits the team moms for having the foresight to create a memorable Senior Night for the seniors in a short notice at their last game of the season. The team finish the semester quarantined at home and were a part of helping to break the record grade point average academically for the WWU athletics department.
